i grew up with a VW…..

i grew up with parents who loved their VW’s… we always had one in the family.. our first one was a 1959… which was our only car until 1967 when we graduated into a two car family… wow.. that was some excitement.. two car family.. we were rich so we thought.. big smile…

i learned to drive our VW.. when i was only eleven… how come you ask… let us just use this one word… farm… yes.. the farm.. you have to learn to drive early on the farm… my sister an i spent a lot of our summer holiday on my uncles farm… he insisted i should learn how to drive so i would not be such a city slicker as he liked to call us… i could hardly reach the peddles.. i ground a lot of gears… big big smile… it was so much fun… so i have always had an interest in cars…when i was young i knew more about cars than my cousin.. and he was a boy… we used to get into big fights about the names years and models… but i have an extremely good memory.. as well as i am a girl.. so i always won… big smile again…

Yes.. our little red 59 VW.. lasted many years… with a lot of wonderful memories… it took us across Canada once on holidays.. i think its top speed loaded down was 30 klicks… my mother packed the intire house to take along.. big smile… as well as the four of us slept in it many nights on the journey.. just how we did this.. is beyond me now… but we did… i know when we reached Montreal.. my mom and dad sent my sister and me out for to play and hopefully get lost so they could have some intimate time.. big smile…
